Murad Skin Perfecting Lotion

I bought the whole range of Murad Acne complex and of all the products, this is the one which I can truly say is well-worth your money. Even though I have oily skin, I still use moisturizers to prevent my skin from drying (because of all the acne/peeling products). Murad was getting all the raves, I just had to try it and here's my take on it:

===THE PACKAGING===
It is enclosed in a clear plastic tube making it easy to get the product for application. No waste because it stands upside down & you can clearly see if there's still product left.

===THE EXPERIENCE===
It's very easy to apply. A small amount is enough to cover the whole face. The lotion gets absorb easily. The scent is okay, it won't bring you to dreamland but who cares? It's not what it is for. =P I also like the fact that it doesn't give me the heavy feeling, it's very light & yet moisturizing.

===THE EFFECT===
Most creams/moisturizers give me the oily look & feel a few hours after applying but Murad Skin Perfecting Lotion is different. It doesn't make me feel oily at all. In fact, it gives me the matte finish. Since it controls the oil on my face, it minimizes the look of my pores! If only for that, I totally love this product. It gave me the smooth feeling after just a week of using it.

VERDICT

I love this product and I will use it again! I'd recommend it to people who usually breakout as a result of heavy creams. Finally a moisturizer that calms skin irritation & hydrates without the greasy feeling.

Advantages: Hydrates my skin without giving the oily feeling, controls oil & minimizes the look of my pores
Disadvantages: It doesn't have a relaxing scent

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Body Mist Sunblock SPF30

I use a lot of peeling creams at night that it is impossible for me to go out without a sunblock lest my face will darken/burn thrice as much as it normally would and thus render my quest for an even skin tone futile. I've tried more than a couple of sunblocks in my lifetime but all of them leave me a bit too greasy & sticky for my liking. That's why I was so excited when Neutrogena launched their ultra sheer sunblock line. So needless to say, I was the first one I know to buy this. At first I was debating whether I should get the dry-touch or the body mist but since I'm such a lazy girl, I figured a body mist would be easier to apply.

===THE PACKAGING===

The packaging is quite nice but I have to say it's a little too bulky for my handbag. I like the fact that I can spray it on even upside down - no leaks!

===THE EXPERIENCE===

I first sprayed it on my arms, it's very light (comparable with the dry oil mist) that it ran down quickly in my arms so I had to spread it all over fast. Then to apply it on my face, I had to spray a couple into my palm and dab it gently, carefully avoiding my eyes. I felt a little heat on my face that lasted for a few seconds. I'd say the time I allot for sunblock application was cut in half because it's so sheer that it goes on smoothly on my skin.

===THE EFFECT===

I was expecting to have the greasy/oily look that I usually get with sunblocks (even though they say it's sheer, you can't always believe what they claim) but I didn't. Instead, I noticed that my face looks bright--gave me the "healthy glow." As for my arms, well my sister usually gets irked when i bump into her because of the sticky feel that sunblocks give me but what do you know... she didn't nag me this time. Some of the sunblock did transfer to her skin but she didn't complain because it wasn't "icky" as she would like to call it.

VERDICT

I would recommend it to anyone who is always in a hurry but can't leave home without sunblock. It gave me the necessary protection I needed (yep, the spf 30 works!) without the fuss.

Advantages: Not sticky & brightens my face
Disadvantages: The bottle seems to ran out fast & a little to bulky for my handbag

Phytospecific Optimal Hydration Shampoo

Most people have a love-hate relationship with their hair...well, I don't! I'd say I have a hate-hate relationship with my hair and that's an understatement. It seems that no matter what I do, my hair just wouldn't behave! My hair is very thick, frizzy and to top it off: WAVY. Not the nice, healthy & shiny wave. No siree. The waves form when I tuck my hair behind my ear (which I often do because like I said it's too thick I can't just leave it hanging) and so by the end of the day I'd develop an ugly hair wave on the top part & a fly-away look at the bottom. Hideous! I can't wear a ponytail because my hair is too short & it slides off --again because of my thick hair.

I've tried rebonding my hair but it just comes off unnaturally so I'm not a fan of it. Plus too much chemicals only reduce it to a sorry state. I don't give up easily though so I tried lots of products which all failed to give me the result I want, until I started using Phyto Specific Optimal Hydration Shampoo. I was so satisfied, I'd like to share my experience with you.

===THE PACKAGING===

I was expecting it to be in a plastic case/tube like most shampoos but it's not. The shampoo is inside a metal tube, much like how old metal tube toothpaste look like. I didn't like it because it's much much harder to make the most out of it since it's harder to squeeze. Although when it's new, even if you just squeeze it a little the shampoo comes pouring down. So yeah, I hate the packaging!

===THE EXPERIENCE===

The color of the shampoo is burnt yellow while the consistency is just like that of normal shampoo. The shampoo is unscented but when you try to smell it, the natural scent of the ingredients are not so nice but you'll get used to it, eventually. The instruction says to apply it twice (apply-rinse-apply-rinse). And I was like, why? That's such a waste! I soon found out the reason why. It's because when you first apply it, it wouldn't bubble at all so it would be hard to massage it through your hair. I'm not entirely sure why but I think it's because of all the dirt in my hair. =P Other shampoos work normally on my hair though. Okay, so I rinsed it and I applied it again, this time it bubbled, not a lot but I was successful in massaging it through my hair.

===THE EFFECT===

After rinsing it, I felt that my hair is a lot softer and smoother than usual. After drying my hair with a towel, I already noticed that my hair looks nicer, it's straighter! Hurray! I was afraid that my hair would be back to normal when it's totally dry but surprise, surprise! It stayed that way the whole day! I was ecstatic!

Twice application everyday is too much for my budget so after two days, I decided to use a different shampoo for my first application. I prayed really hard that it would still have the same effect and guess what? It did! I was so glad that it solved my double application dilemma.

VERDICT

For those gifted with normal hair, I doubt you'd benefit much from this. But for those people with hair like mine, it's worth it. If you'd compute it, since it only lasts up to 4 weeks (single use everyday), it'd pretty much cost the same as having your hair relaxed but at least it won't ruin your hair with chemicals! The main ingredient of the shampoo is Shea Butter which as we all know is an effective natural moisturizer. It hydrated my very dry hair like no other shampoo has ever had. No more unruly waves!

Despite the hefty price tag, I'd really recommend it to desperate/hopeless people like me. Finally a shampoo that would allow you to have normal, beautiful hair. =)

Advantages: Smoothens & softens my hair in a few minutes
Disadvantages: It is packaged inside a metal tube which would be hard to squeeze out in the end<,italic>

Impulsive Beauty Shopper

I'm such an impulsive shopper! I mean, who isn't? I guess my eternal quest for soft, clear skin, nice hair, and of course happiness keeps from going. =D I've tried a lot of products and I have no doubt I will continue to do so. Some products work on me, some don't, some just for a little while but whatever the case, it still cost me money.

When I started getting frustrated and realized that I've been duped by beauty products' ads & commercials one too many times, that's when it hit me that I should have done my research first. So now whenever I see something that could possibly be my holy grail, I try to restrain myself from buying right away. I try to search for reviews and read people's comments and recommendations first before handing out my hard-earned cash to the cashier or giving out my credit card number for online purchases. And I must say, it has saved me a lot of heartache. =P I'm so grateful to all those people who provided unbiased reviews about their purchases. *hugs*

Now I think it's time to return the favor and make reviews of the products lined up in my closet. My writing might not be professional, I'm sure I'd make a lot of grammatical errors (lol!) but one thing I can assure you is that I'll do an honest review all the time. And all of it would be tried and tested by me!
